The Mellow Memories organization uses miniature horses to create lasting memories for special needs children. Volunteers help tend to the horses, the ranch (stables, etc.), or help build and paint, but kids must work with parents!

SUGGESTIONS

A few personal suggestions for some more personal projects for you to start and create on your own!

Photography

If you are interested in photography, you may want to look into taking photos of animals for Colorado Springs organizations. Helping with social media sites for the group or simply taking photos of animals for panflets, newsletters, or promotional ads!

Social Media

Social media can be a great way to publicize an organization among the youth in Colorado Springs. Setting up an Instagram page, Facebook Page, or Twitter account (with consent of the organization) could help increase awareness about a certain cause or project!

Pet Therapy

With help from a local hospital or shelter, you can use personal pets or shelter pets as therapy animals to help disabled patients or to raise morale in a local shelter or hospital!

Pet Therapy Part Two

Organize a pet therapy day at your school to help alleviate the student's school stress. Talk with your local animal shelter like the humane society where you could kill two birds with one stone: they bring their animals so kids can consider adopting them while students get to relax with cats, dogs, and whatever they bring!
