The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Colorado Springs offers a comfortable and soothing home to parents with very sick children. Volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House requires an application and, if accepted, you would be able to help families with their sick children to create a warm and enviting environment for them!

The Colorado Springs Teen Court gives kids (normally 8th grade and up) the ability to work with others on a panel to question and decide the sentence for another teen from their community who may have committed a small misdemeanor like possession of drugs, petty theft, etc. As well as this, teens can become student attorneys and work on bigger, more serious cases after they study and pass a "bar exam!"

The Children's Literacy Center requires you only 1 hour, 2 times a week, for 3 months and gives you the opportunity to tutor disadvantaged children at no-cost to them! You will use stories, games, and other methods to teach children, though you do need to be over 14 years old to participate. After a quick training session and application process, you will be making a difference in some child's life in a fun way. If you want to pursue a career a future in teaching, this is perfect for you!

The Pikes Peak YMCA offers a multitude of volunteering opportunities for teens! The best way to find something you like, reach out to them personally, but...
some of the opportunities offered include running a tween night for YMCA kids. Another thing I've done personally is help coach a sports team, like little league baseball, basketball, etc.

Suggestions

A few personal suggestions for some more personal projects for you to start and create on your own!

Babysitting

Though you make think babysitters only get paid money, you can ask your "employer" to sign off on a community service slip instead of paying you for your services!

Summer Camps

Especially when the summer starts, parents start dropping off their young kids at summer camp. With a little research, you can find summer camps you like personally or that look fun to volunteer! Watching or playing with kids, setting up activities, and more are just some things you could do!

One-on-One Tutoring

If you love tutoring, you can ask teachers and staff at your school if you can tutor students who need extra help! If possible, you could even set up an after-school homework center in the library (with permission) where you stay after school and help students in the center who ask for help with their homework!
